Let me start off by saying, this game is going to probably be one of the best narrative based games we have seen to date for a couple of reasons. First, it’s “Game of Thrones”, and perhaps that alone is enough for many of us to jump on board. If you haven’t read the books or at least seen the show, you’re missing out on an amazing universe full of political intrigue, lust, power, war, heroes, villains and a rich fantasy environment that these characters call home. This is George R.R. Martin’s story telling masterpiece and will go down as one of the best fantasy series of all time, and of all the gaming companies out there, Telltale has the best potential to bring a rich narrative in ways we have already seen in their “Walking Dead” series along with a few others. We should be in for a big treat!
If you haven’t played the “Walking Dead” seasons from these guys, you owe to yourself as a gamer to indulge in this experience. It’s not a fast paced shooter or fantasy epic, but it makes you question your own choices around every turn, and if you’re craving a narrative game that replaces mindless shooting with stories of friendship, betrayal and regret, you’d be hard pressed to find another game that can replicate these emotions. And this is just one of their many narrative games, they have other titles that include “Jurassic Park”, “The Wolf Among Us”, “Tales From The Borderlands” (another one I’m personally hyped about), “Poker Night 2” and “Tales of Monkey Island”. Telling stories is the form of video games in their specialty, and I’m not sure anyone else does it better. For more information on Telltale, visit their website by clicking here.
The “Game of Thrones” and “Tales From the Borderlands” are both scheduled to be released as the other games have been before them, in episodes that span several months with each one taking a few hours to complete. I believe the Borderlands title is due to hit in December and it has been confirmed that this is also when the “Game of Thrones” series will begin. You can find both these titles on Steam right now at a 10% discount when you pre-order, and I know I’ll be getting my copy of GoT very soon. To see a short teaser on the new game, click here. As always, thanks for reading, subscribe if you enjoy the content, and come back soon for more.
I’ll also be streaming this title along with “Tales From The Borderlands” and the rest of the “Walking Dead” series on my Twitch account. You can access this by click the links to the right or by clicking here. To see reruns of the previous episodes I’ve completed, simply visit my video archive on Twitch.
